This document explains the intended use and limitations of the carbon-footprint estimates displayed by the MyScrapDeal CO2e Calculator. Please read it before relying on or sharing any result.

1. Purpose of the Calculator

The CO2e Calculator provides indicative estimates of greenhouse-gas emissions that may be avoided or reduced through reuse, resale, recovery, or recycling of eligible items. Results are provided for general information and awareness only.

2. Indicative Estimates and Data Sources

Calculations are based on information drawn from publicly available studies, academic papers, life-cycle assessment (LCA) publications, reports, presentations, surveys, and other reference materials. The sources, assumptions, system boundaries, and methods may differ. Where appropriate, conservative or higher-side assumptions may be used to avoid overstating potential environmental benefits. The calculator does not guarantee that an estimate represents the actual emissions associated with a particular item or transaction.

3. Item-Specific Variations

Actual environmental impact may vary depending on an item's material composition, weight, age, condition, quality, repairability, reuse potential, collection and transportation distance, sorting process, recycling technology, energy mix, and the final destination of the material. If item details or actual weight are not available, the calculator may use typical or assumed values.

4. No Guarantee of Environmental Outcome

A displayed CO2e figure is an estimate, not a measurement or certification. It should not be interpreted as a verified carbon reduction, carbon offset, emissions credit, or independently audited environmental claim. Actual avoided emissions may be lower or higher, and in some circumstances may not occur.

5. Permitted Use

You may use the calculator for general awareness, preliminary comparisons, and informational purposes. Do not use the results as the sole basis for regulatory reporting, financial decisions, sustainability disclosures, carboncredit claims, product certification, or other formal claims without appropriate independent verification and supporting evidence.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, MyScrapDeal makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of the estimates. MyScrapDeal shall not be liable for any loss, damage, claim, or expense arising from reliance on, interpretation of, or use of the calculator or its results. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

7. Updates and Changes

MyScrapDeal may update the calculator, underlying references, assumptions, calculation methods, or this disclaimer from time to time without prior notice. A result generated at one time may differ from a result generated later.

CO2e Calculator Disclaimer

The CO₂e (Carbon Dioxide Equivalent) values displayed on the MyScrapDeal platform are indicative estimates provided solely for informational, awareness, and sustainability-assessment purposes. These values are not intended to represent a certified, independently verified, or product-specific carbon footprint.

The calculations are based on secondary data and publicly available information, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies, academic and university research papers, published surveys, industry reports, environmental studies, research publications, government datasets, and other relevant sources available on the internet. Reference information may include publications and datasets from recognized organizations such as the IPCC, UNEP, U.S. EPA, UK Government GHG Conversion Factors, European Environment Agency (EEA), International Energy Agency (IEA), World Resources Institute (WRI) and other academic/research institutions, wherever applicable.

To provide a practical and conservative estimate, MyScrapDeal may use higher-side/conservative emission factors where variations exist between available studies or datasets. The displayed value should therefore be treated as an approximate estimate and not an exact measurement.

Actual CO₂e emissions, avoided emissions, or environmental impact can vary substantially depending on factors including, but not limited to, actual weight, material composition, product age, physical condition, level of damage or deterioration, contamination, manufacturing process, geographic location, electricity/energy source, transportation distance, recycling/recovery technology, recycling efficiency, reuse potential, and final disposal method.

The CO₂e Averted/Saved values represent estimated emissions potentially avoided through assumed reuse, recovery, recycling, or material-displacement scenarios. These figures must not be interpreted as certified carbon credits, carbon offsets, or independently verified emission reductions.

Limitation of Liability

MyScrapDeal makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or applicability of the CO₂e estimates for any specific item, transaction, material, or individual circumstance.

Users are responsible for independently assessing and verifying the information before relying upon it for commercial, financial, environmental, regulatory, compliance, carbon-credit, investment, or other decisionmaking purposes.

MyScrapDeal, its owners, operators, employees, partners, affiliates, service providers, or data contributors shall not be held responsible or liable for any loss, damage, cost, claim, liability, expense, or consequence arising directly or indirectly from any interpretation, misinterpretation, reliance upon, or use of the CO₂e information provided through the platform, whether in whole or in part.

The CO₂e information provided by MyScrapDeal is therefore intended only as a best-estimate, indicative reference and should not be considered a substitute for a product-specific LCA, laboratory measurement, thirdparty verification, environmental audit, or professionally certified carbon assessment.

MyScrapDeal reserves the right to modify, revise, update, or discontinue any CO₂e value or calculation methodology when improved data, research, methodologies, or region-specific information becomes available, without prior notice.
